This is a detail accessory, not a tank kit; the set holds photo-etched grills and screens for the engine deck and the cooling openings. They replace coarser plastic parts and give the model a realistic, finely pierced appearance.

What the set is for

The engine deck of Soviet heavy tanks has characteristic ventilation and cooling grills. The plastic parts from the box tend to be thick and solid, whereas photo-etched grills are thin and see-through, so they imitate the real structure faithfully. The set is meant to be bonded onto a model under construction once the original plastic grills have been removed.

Usage tips

Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and bend them with a photo-etch bender or two rulers. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with a special adhesive for photo-etched parts. Before painting we recommend degreasing the surface and applying primer for better paint adhesion. A dark wash sits nicely in the recesses of the grills.
