A plastic kit of the American battleship USS New York BB-34 in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American battleship in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter. It is a classic glued model of a large surface combatant, supplied to be assembled and painted. Trumpeter also makes the sister ship Texas BB-35 in this scale, so the two units can be built as a pair.
USS New York was the lead ship of her class and entered service in 1914. Her main battery was ten 356 mm guns in five twin turrets. During the First World War she operated in the North Sea alongside the British Grand Fleet. Between the wars she went through a series of refits, and in the Second World War she served in the Atlantic, took part in the landings in North Africa and in the closing stages of the war supported landings in the Pacific with gunfire. She ended her career as a target in the postwar nuclear tests.
Older battleships have characteristic lattice masts and busy superstructures, so leave them until the end of the build and glue them only after the surrounding surfaces are painted. Glue the hull on a flat base so that the deck does not warp. Pick out the gray surfaces with a dark wash flowing into the engraved lines and with subtle lightening of the horizontal surfaces. The wooden deck comes out best if you paint it separately and only then fit the superstructures. The anchors, the chains and the lifeboats are worth painting before they are fitted.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
