An extensive diorama set in 1:48 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. It combines an injection-molded plastic kit of the American Martin B-26 Marauder bomber (the B-26G version) with figures of ground personnel and elements of a field airfield, including the pierced steel planks (Marston Mat / PSP) from which temporary runways were laid during the war. The set therefore makes it possible to build not only the aircraft but a whole scene from the support area of a bomber group. It is a complex project joining an aircraft build with diorama work.
The Martin B-26 Marauder was an American twin-engined medium bomber of the Second World War; the B-26G version was one of the most advanced in the whole line. The Marauder flew among others with the bomb groups of the Twelfth Air Force in Europe and operated both from permanent airfields with a hard surface and from temporary field strips. These were often laid from pierced steel planks, which made a firm surface even on soft or muddy ground, a typical sight at forward airfields in Italy and France in 1944 and 1945.
First build and paint the aircraft (the cockpit and the clear parts with cement for clear parts), then the figures and finally the base. Bring the steel planking and the surface of the airfield to life with pigments and mud and dust effects. Paint the figures separately and set them into the scene only when they are finished. For a convincing impression, pull the color tone of the whole diorama together and work with the shades of wear on both the equipment and the ground.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
