About product

AN/ALQ-71(V)-2 (QRC-161-1) ECM pod, 1:48 (Reskit)

The set contains one 3D printed resin replica of the AN/ALQ-71(V)-2 (QRC-161-1) electronic jamming pod. It is an accessory to the external equipment of a model, not a stand-alone kit. The part comes unassembled and unpainted.

The real subject

The AN/ALQ-71 was an American jamming (ECM) pod of the Vietnam War era, developed from the earlier QRC-160 system. Its task was to blind the enemy radars of surface-to-air missiles and of early warning. The pod was carried by a number of aircraft, among them the A-4, the A-7, the F-4, the F-100, the RF-101C and the F-105, often on a station under the fuselage or the wing.

Building and painting tips

Wash the part to remove print resin residue, separate it from the print supports and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue. Wear respiratory protection while sanding. We recommend a primer; pods tended to be in gray or metallic shades with warning markings.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of American combat aircraft of the Vietnam era in 1:48 scale
  • Modelers who want accurate period electronic equipment
  • More advanced modelers used to resin

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
