The racing floatplane 1:48 Supermarine S.6 from the brand AMP is a plastic kit of the British machine from the era of the Schneider Trophy.
Responsibility details are not available.
This box from the Ukrainian brand AMP covers the basic S.6 form, that is, the machine of 1929, and not the later modifications designated S.6A and S.6B. Those came out as separate releases. Thanks to its pair of massive floats and its struts the model is striking even without complicated painting.
The design came from the office of Reginald Joseph Mitchell, who a few years later also signed off the legendary fighter from the same firm. The racing monoplane was powered by a supercharged Rolls-Royce V12, and almost the entire surface of the airframe served as cooling area, because a conventional radiator would have held it back too much at the speeds reached. The floats carried fuel and at the same time helped carry heat away. Victory in the international speed contest strengthened the British position in the races, and the experience from the development was later reflected in the design of wartime fighters.
This type stands or falls with a smooth gloss. Sand the airframe back with fine abrasive, lay down a quality base and paint in thin coats. Glue the struts between the fuselage and the floats home and check the symmetry as you go, best of all against a flat surface. The finished model looks good on a stand, because otherwise the floats underneath do not stand out.
The delivery covers the parts for assembly only. Obtain the glue and the paints separately, unless stated otherwise.
