A resin detail set of replacement wheels for models of the de Havilland Vampire in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the aircraft but an accessory that replaces the plastic wheels from the box with more faithful castings with a fine tire tread and clearly drawn detail of the hubs and the caps.
The de Havilland Vampire was one of the first British jet fighters, with its characteristic twin-boom tail, in service from the end of the Second World War. The landing gear wheels are among the most visible parts of a finished model and cast resin offers crisper detail here than injection-molded plastic can manage. The set tends to be a welcome improvement both for viewing close up and for photographing a model.
First wash the parts in warm soapy water to remove the residue of the casting release agent, then separate them from the gate blocks with a sharp knife or a fine saw. They are glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate); do any sanding and finishing with respiratory protection. We recommend a dry test of the mating surfaces and any fine-tuning before the final gluing.
This is an add-on detail set, not the model itself. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
