This item is an add-on resin set, not a kit of an aircraft. It contains landing gear wheels for the twin-engine Douglas Invader in the standard designated as type 2. The resin castings have no mold seam, so the most unpleasant part of the work with plastic wheels falls away, and they offer a sharper tread pattern and a more finely rendered rim. It is precisely the wheels that belong among the most closely watched details of a model on its gear, because they are at the viewer's eye level.
The Douglas Invader was a fast twin-engine attack and bomber aircraft of all-metal construction, which stayed in service considerably longer than most of its contemporaries. Gradual modifications and rearming of the machines also meant changes to the landing gear wheels, which is why the maker of accessories offers several numbered standards. Working out exactly which wheel belongs to which machine and period has to be done from photographs of the particular aircraft; the type number alone will not tell you.
First wash the wheels in lukewarm water with dish soap. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the surface; sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with superglue; cement for plastic does not react with resin. Apply a primer before painting. You will solve the boundary of rim and tire most cleanly with a circular mask. Tires look more convincing in a dark gray shade than in pure black; add a fine dusty tinge near the contact patch.
This is an add-on set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
