A set of masking templates in 1:48 scale for a model of the F-104J/G aircraft, cut for the kit from the Kinetic brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-104 is a single-seat supersonic aircraft with a strikingly slender fuselage and short thin wings, which entered the armament of a whole range of countries in the 1960s. The designation G belongs to the most widespread multirole version, used by European air forces, and the designation J to the version operated in Japan. Both have the same basic silhouette, so a common set of masks can be prepared for them.
It is a set of masking templates for painting a model, that is an accessory to a kit, not a model. The templates are cut for the kit from the Kinetic brand in 1:48 scale, so on another kit of the same type they need not fit exactly. What exactly the set covers, that is whether only the cockpit glazing or the wheels and other areas as well, is given in the enclosed manufacturer's instructions.
First wash and degrease the areas you will lay a mask on and let them dry perfectly, as a mask does not hold on a greasy surface and paint creeps under it. Lift the templates off the backing with tweezers and lay them on from one edge, not over the whole area at once. Then press the edges down with a stick or a toothpick. Masking is done before spraying, not once the paint has dried. Apply the paint in thin coats, as a heavy coat creates a step at the edge of the mask. Take the templates off shortly after the paint has dried and pull them back at an angle over themselves, so that they do not pull the finish away.
A set of masks is supplied. The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
