A set of two resin, 3D-printed figures of standing pilots of the American F-14 Tomcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Ukrainian maker Reskit (the scene 1 variant). The set is meant for more experienced modelers as an accessory to Tomcat models and to dioramas. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

The subject

The pair of naval aviation pilots is captured standing in flight gear, in a flight suit, with a harness and a helmet. The figures bring a scene beside the aircraft to life, whether in preparation for a flight or after landing, and they give an F-14 model a human scale. The two-seat Tomcat normally carried a pilot and a weapon systems operator, which the pair of figures matches.

Building and painting tips

Wash the figures to remove print resin residue and cut the print supports off carefully. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and sand with respiratory protection. Lay down a primer and paint with a brush or an airbrush; bring out the face and the folds of the gear with glazes and a fine dry brush.
