This plastic kit in 1:48 scale from the maker Kinetic captures the original single-seat A version in the special finish with which the Royal Thai Air Force marked twenty years of operating its machines with 403 Squadron. Anniversary schemes tend to be designed with generous artwork across the whole fuselage and tail surfaces, so the model looks quite different from an ordinary gray fighter.
The Royal Thai Air Force took its first aircraft of this family into service at the end of the 1980s and replaced older equipment of the previous generation with them. The A version is the most original single-seat form: it has a slimmer spine, simpler avionics than the later batches, and in its day it was a textbook example of a light, agile fighter with an outstanding power-to-weight ratio. Thai machines served for decades and went through upgrades that markedly extended their lives.
It is supplied as an unassembled plastic model with no finish applied. Paints, glue and other supplies are obtained separately.
