The manufacturer Great Wall Hobby has covered the two-seat version of the Fighting Falcon in the markings of the Singapore air force, and in the special paint scheme of 2023 commemorating thirty years of cooperation with the air force of the United States. The celebratory scheme turns the finished piece into a standout item in a display case full of gray fighters.
Singapore introduced Block 52 machines in the 1990s and later had them go through an extensive upgrade of the avionics, the radar and the cockpit equipment. The two-seat aircraft carry an extended dorsal spine above the fuselage which made room for additional equipment, and they serve for training as well as for combat tasks. Part of the training has long taken place at bases in the United States, and it is precisely this partnership that the anniversary scheme refers to.
Two cockpits mean twice the work with the instrument panels and the seats, but once the build is finished everything is visible through the large canopy. If you are going to transfer the colorful scheme with decals, prepare a smooth gloss surface underneath, otherwise air will be trapped beneath them. Weigh up the external stores and the tanks according to whether you want the machine in a display or in a combat configuration.
