A photo-etched armor shield for the German 88 mm Flak 36/37 anti-aircraft gun in 1:48 scale from Aber. A metal replacement that gives a model of the gun the right sheet thickness.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It holds the armor shielding for a model of the German 88 mm anti-aircraft gun in the Flak 36 and Flak 37 versions. It is not a model of the gun but an accessory: the etched sheet has a realistic thickness and finer detail than an injection-molded plastic part.
The 88 mm gun was originally an anti-aircraft weapon, but it also made its name as an effective anti-tank gun. It was precisely for direct fire at ground targets that some of the guns were given an armor shield, which protected the crew from splinters and from small-arms fire. The Flak 36 and Flak 37 versions differed above all in their control and sighting equipment.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard mat or with photo-etch scissors, and make the bends in a bending tool or along a steel ruler. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue and degrease the surfaces beforehand. Lay down a base coat suitable for metal before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the etched parts.
This is a detail set, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
