The exhaust nozzle of the F-35B in the position for level flight, 1:48 scale replaces the part from the box. The set is cut for the Italeri kit.

The accessory represents the tail section of the powerplant of the F-35B aircraft in the position in which the machine flies forward or stands on the ground. The name designates it with the pair of words Parked and Fly. The set is cut for the Italeri kit in 1:48 scale; a closely related item without a kit designation also exists, so this detail decides which variant you need.
The B version is adapted to short takeoff and vertical landing. Besides the lift system behind the cockpit, a special engine exhaust serves for that, which can swivel downward. In level flight, however, it stays turned to the rear and looks much like that of an ordinary jet fighter, so this position is the right one for a model in flight configuration. Modelers choose it most often, because it also suits a machine parked on the ramp.
Wash the part, separate it from the casting block and try inserting it dry into the rear of the fuselage. Fill any play with a thin strip of plastic, so that the nozzle sits on the axis. The inside is a rewarding place for a graded finish: a base in dark metal, a warmer tone toward brown added toward the edge and finally a light pass with pigment. Keep the outer ring flatter than the rest of the airframe, because that is exactly where the most exhaust deposits settle.
