Reskit 1:48 GBU-31 guided bombs (2 pcs) is a resin set of two large-caliber American guided bombs. It is additional armament for a model of an aircraft, not the model itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the Ukrainian manufacturer Reskit holds two pieces of the GBU-31 guided aerial bomb in 1:48 scale. The parts are resin and it is an aftermarket armament accessory, that is weapons with which the equipment supplied in the kit is filled out or replaced; the model of the aircraft is not included in the package. It is precisely with large bombs that it pays to reach for resin, because their shape and surface detail are plainly visible on a finished model, whereas plastic parts tend to be simplified in that respect.
The GBU-31 is a large-caliber American guided aerial bomb of the 2000-pound class, that is roughly the nine-hundred-kilogram category. It came about by fitting a classic unguided bomb with the JDAM guidance kit, which adds a tail section with control surfaces and an inertial unit with reception of a satellite navigation signal to the body of the bomb. The bomb can therefore aim at given coordinates after release regardless of the weather and the visibility. It is carried on tactical as well as strategic aircraft of the US Air Force and the US Navy and is used against stationary targets.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent to remove the remains of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surface, protecting your airways as you do so. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is super glue. The thin control surfaces of the tail section are fragile, so handle them with tweezers. Spray the bombs separately from the aircraft and fit them right at the end; the colored bands marking the type of filling and the small lettering go onto a smooth gloss base, so that silvered edges do not appear.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is an accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
