Injection-molded plastic kit of the German twin-engine Focke-Wulf Fw 189 A-2 Uhu (Eagle Owl) reconnaissance aircraft in 1:48 scale from Great Wall Hobby. The model is notable for the extensive glazing of the fully glazed observation nacelle, a detailed interior with the crew positions and photo-etched parts.
The Fw 189 Uhu was one of the most unusual aircraft of World War II. Its characteristic features were the fully glazed central crew nacelle and the twin-boom tail with two booms. It served with the Luftwaffe mainly as a short-range reconnaissance and observation aircraft; it was also used in the liaison and light ground-attack role, especially on the Eastern Front.
The glazed nacelle is the visual highlight of the model, so paint and complete the interior before closing it up and mask the extensive glazing carefully: a masking set pays off here. Use a thin cement on the plastic and a primer, and apply the shades with an airbrush. On a twin-engine aircraft, refine the engines and the propellers, spray the camouflage and add weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
