Four figures of deck crew in green jerseys, 1:48 scale. Catapult and arresting gear crews, air wing maintenance and air wing quality control personnel.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the deck of American aircraft carriers the crew is told apart by the color of the jersey, so that in the noise and the hurry it is clear at a glance who does what. Green belongs to the catapult and arresting gear crews, to air wing mechanics and to quality control personnel. These are the people who ready an aircraft for launch and who come back to it first after it lands. The set captures the present-day form of their working dress.
The package holds four figures in poses matching work around an aircraft. The range includes further sets, so a deck scene can be assembled from several packages without repeating the same figures.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder down with fine abrasive paper. Then wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry, otherwise the paint will not hold on the surface. Use cyanoacrylate to join the parts. Paint the green jerseys over a base coat, lift the tone slightly on the raised areas and darken it in the folds; pick out the ear muffs, the vests and the gloves in a richer color, because these are what give a deck scene its typical look.
The set belongs in a deck scene beside a model of a naval aircraft in 1:48 scale. The figures give the scene both scale and movement, and they fill the space around the aircraft better than any piece of hardware.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
