Plastic kit of the export version of the American Curtiss Hawk 75 fighter with fixed landing gear in 1:48 scale from Clear Prop Models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss Hawk 75 was an American single-seat fighter of the second half of the 1930s, an all-metal low-wing monoplane with a radial engine that in its day made its name above all in export. The H-75N version was among the forms with fixed landing gear covered by aerodynamic wheel spats and was delivered to Thailand. It is precisely the fixed landing gear that gives this version a silhouette nobody will confuse with later retractable-gear fighters.
This is a classic injection-molded kit in 1:48 scale meant to be glued and sprayed. The parts are held on sprue frames and are separated with nippers, and the remains of the gates are leveled with a file or sandpaper.
It pays to start with the cockpit and the engine, because both are hard to add once the fuselage is closed up. With a radial engine it helps to fit the cowling dry and check how deep the cylinders sit. The wheel spats on the fixed landing gear are rewarding for shading; airfield dust and traces of maintenance collect on them. Before applying the decals it is worth coating the surface to a gloss.
The set is for modelers who have a few aircraft behind them and want a less usual type. Paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
