Piper J-3 Cub painting masks 1:48 (Special Hobby, the Special Mask range)

A set of self-adhesive painting masks in 1:48 scale for a model of the Piper J-3 Cub light aircraft. The masks are cut from kabuki paper and follow the shape of the cabin glazing exactly; the set is usually completed with masks for the landing gear wheels. It is not a kit or decals but a practical aid that secures crisp paint edges on the glazing without laborious hand-cutting of tape.

Use

• Peel the mask off its backing and press it onto clean, degreased glazing along the frames.
• Apply the paint in thin coats, so that it does not seep under the edge of the mask.
• Use the wheel masks to separate the tire from the disc while painting.
• Once the paint has dried, take the masks carefully off and clear windows remain.

The masks will be appreciated by anyone building the J-3 Cub at this scale who wants a neatly framed cabin. They are easy to use and suit less experienced modelers too.

These are painting masks, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
