The set replaces the landing gear wheels from the kit. The tires have a shaped flat spot where they touch the ground, so once built the model does not stand on perfectly round rims but looks loaded by its own weight. At the same time the tread pattern and the breakdown of the hub, which get lost in injection-molded plastic, tend to be more sharply rendered.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary modeling cement has no effect on them. They are glued with super glue, or with epoxy on larger surfaces. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so as not to touch the shape of the tire. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly.
The most important thing is the position of the wheel: the flattened area has to point down to the ground and the axle of the wheel has to be horizontal, otherwise the model stands crooked and the loaded effect is lost. Try the position dry on the finished landing gear and only then glue it for good. Match the flat spots on the individual wheels to one another, so that the model does not stand leaning. It is easier to spray the hub and the tire separately before gluing them together and to touch the transition between them up with a fine brush.
The set suits modelers who want landing gear worked out better than the kit's and at the same time do not want to rebuild the whole model. Changing the wheels is among the modifications with the best ratio of effort to result. The package contains the wheels only; the kit, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
