Technical lettering for the late fit is what the sheet 1:48 Lockheed-Martin F-16 Stencils (LATE) from Furball Aero-Design offers; according to the manufacturer it will do for four models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet carries the complete service lettering of the airframe in its late fit. The manufacturer states two complete sets in black and two in gray, that is, enough for four models, plus a quantity of numerals for making up any fuselage number and markings for an external jamming pod. Everything is printed as a water-slide decal.
A modern combat aircraft is covered in hundreds of small texts: tie-down and lifting points, filler points, warnings against entering the engine's airflow, the marking of walkways and service panels. It is precisely their density and their correct color that set apart a model that looks like a photograph from one left with nothing but national insignia. On later machines, moreover, most of the lettering was done in low-visibility gray, which the sheet respects by offering both color versions.
Transfer the small elements with flat-jawed tweezers and lay them onto a film of water in which they can still be moved. Work section by section and keep checking the position against the drawing. Use a softener sparingly, or the small text will ripple. A final matte clear coat beds the lettering into the surface. Before you start on the weathering, let the model stand for at least a day so that the film is perfectly cured.
