Injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale by Hobby Boss depicting the German jet fighter Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a, nicknamed Schwalbe (Swallow). The package includes plastic parts, clear parts for the glazing and decals for marking options.
The Me 262 was the first jet fighter ever to see combat and represented a technological leap over the piston-engined aircraft of the Second World War. It was powered by two jet engines slung under the swept wing, and its high speed gave its pilots an edge over Allied fighters and bombers alike. The A-1a fighter version carried heavy armament in the nose. Despite its potential, the type entered service late and in small numbers, so it had no decisive effect on the course of the war, though technically it was ahead of its time.
Finish and paint the cockpit and landing gear bays before closing up the fuselage; pay attention to fitting the engine nacelles under the wing precisely. Use a thin liquid modeling cement for the plastic, and canopy cement for the clear parts. Apply a primer before airbrushing. Late-war German schemes with mottled camouflage look great with panel lines picked out by a subtle wash and a restrained hint of exhaust staining.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
