This set from Quinta Studio brings a complete color interior for a model of the Mi-8MTV5 transport helicopter in the late version, in 1:48 scale. It is not a helicopter kit but a detail accessory — the instrument panel, the side consoles, the controls, the seats and the belts are 3D printed and already in color from the factory. The parts are on a decal backing: they are applied the wet way like an ordinary decal, but they have real three-dimensional 3D relief. The result is a photorealistic interior with depth that you get without painting and without photo-etched parts. The set is made specifically for the Mi-8MTV5 kit by Trumpeter — it will not fit another kit and you have to own the kit itself, as it is not included in the package.

The Mil Mi-8 is one of the most widespread transport helicopters in the world, operated in dozens of countries in civil and military roles. The Mi-8MTV5 version is one of the upgraded transport forms with a reworked fuselage and equipment; the late qualifier marks a later production series with the cabin details of that period.

Application

• Cut out the part you need, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and lift it off with tweezers like a decal.
• Apply it onto a clean, ideally varnished surface of the part; a thin coat of gloss varnish helps the adhesion.
• 3D decals are thicker than conventional ones — do not use a softener or setter, as they attack the printed resin.
• Small parts can be secured with a drop of super glue (cyanoacrylate); once dry, the area can be lightly weathered and varnished.
