Note that this is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory set. The package holds resin wheels for the twin-engine B-25 Mitchell bomber in 1:48 scale, meant as a replacement for the plastic wheels from ordinary kits. The tires are cast separately from the hubs, so each part is painted on its own and the laborious masking of the boundary between rubber and hub falls away, because it is exactly there that most mistakes arise on a finished model. Reskit is a Ukrainian maker of resin accessories.
Wheels are one of the most closely watched details on a model aircraft, because they are at the bottom, at eye level and always in the foreground in photographs. Plastic wheels from a kit tend to be split in half, so the mold parting line has to be sanded back and the tread pattern is often lost along with it. A resin casting is in one piece, with sharper relief in the tread and a more legible hub. The replacement is simple and it shows in the overall impression out of all proportion to the work it takes.
First wash the parts in warm water with dish soap, so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed, because without that the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and do not break them, because resin is brittle. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust should not be inhaled. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, because ordinary cement for plastic does not work on resin. Apply a primer before painting. Do not make the tires pure black, because a dark gray with a light dusty tint reads more convincingly.
The set is supplied as an unpainted resin casting and it is not a model in its own right. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
