A kit of the North American FJ-3 Fury carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The FJ-3 Fury was a carrier fighter of the US Navy of the 1950s. It was created as the naval relative of the well-known F-86 Sabre fighter and does not hide it: it has the same swept wing and the air intake in the nose. For service on an aircraft carrier, however, it received what the land-based Sabre did not have, that is an arrestor hook, strengthened landing gear and a folding wing. The Furies served at a time when the navy was moving from straight-wing machines to swept ones, which makes them a rewarding subject for showing that change.
It is a model in 1:48 scale, that is a size in which the cockpit and the landing gear bays can be worked out in detail while the model does not take up half a display case. How many parts the box contains and what markings it offers can be found in the instructions; use them to decide which version you will build, because the overall finish depends on the choice of markings too.
Paint the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage, as afterwards you will not reach them. Dry-fit the parts before gluing and run a finger along the joints around the nose, as on aircraft with an air intake in the nose this is where most sanding is needed. On carrier machines of the middle of the 1950s two finishes meet, the older overall blue and the newer light one with a white underside, so follow the reference for the markings you have chosen.
Paints, glue and other accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
