This 3D printed resin set from Quinta Studio contains a pair of R-27ET air-to-air guided missiles with the matching launchers. The parts have fine surface detail and serve to enrich the external stores of contemporary combat aircraft. The set is universal and is intended for 1:48 scale.

The real subject

The R-27 (NATO reporting name Alamo) is a family of Soviet and Russian medium-range air-to-air guided missiles. The R-27ET version uses infrared (heat) homing and carries a characteristically longer motor. The missiles are carried by the front-line jet fighters of the Flanker family and by other types.

Building tips

Wash the print resin residue off the parts and separate the casting blocks carefully. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). For a realistic look, matte shades used on external stores suit them, together with accentuated contrasting marking bands and a fine patina.
