About product

Revi 12 for the Hs 129, clear 3D print, 1:48 (3DF)

A miniature replacement part from the Czech brand 3DF, which makes accessories by SLA 3D printing. The set replaces the gunsight on models of the Henschel Hs 129 in 1:48 scale, and its main strength is that it is printed in clear (transparent) material. That is technically demanding in 3D printing, as clear resin is harder to print and to polish, and that is exactly why the part is of interest in this form. It is not an aircraft model, and the kit is not included in the package.

What Revi 12 means

The abbreviation Revi stands for Reflexvisier, that is, the reflector (collimator) gunsight of German aircraft of the Second World War. The instrument projected a lit aiming reticle onto an angled glass plate in front of the pilot's eyes, so that the pilot saw the mark hanging in space and did not have to take his eyes off the target. The key element is therefore the glass, and it is precisely because of it that having the part printed transparent makes sense.

Why it shows so much on the Hs 129

The Hs 129 was a German armored anti-tank attack aircraft. Its cockpit was so cramped that the gunsight did not fit inside and was mounted outside, on the nose ahead of the windscreen. On a finished model the Revi is therefore one of the first details the eye catches.

Use

  • Cut the part carefully from the print supports and level the marks; protect your airways when sanding.
  • Rinse it lightly before gluing and let it dry, as grease and dust worsen the transparency.
  • Watch out with super glue: its vapors fog a clear surface. Do not put it on visible areas; use a cement intended for clear parts.
  • Mask the optics before spraying; primer belongs only on the frame and body of the sight, never on the glass.
  • Lost gloss can be brought back by polishing and a thin coat of gloss clear.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the Hs 129 in 1:48 scale; the set suits plastic kits from Hasegawa, Hobby 2000 and MN Hobby. It will be appreciated by those who want a prominent external detail solved better than with a plastic part out of the box.

A very small and fragile part, not intended for children. Super glue bonds skin instantly and its vapors are irritating, so work with ventilation.

FAQ

A reflector (collimator) gunsight of German aircraft of the Second World War. The abbreviation Revi stands for Reflexvisier. It projected a lit aiming reticle onto a glass plate the pilot looked through, which is why the model of this part is clear too.

Because the essence of the gunsight is the glass the pilot aimed through. Clear 3D printing is technically more demanding, but the result looks like real optics, unlike an opaque part that has to be imitated with paint.

Super glue must not be used on visible areas, as its vapors haze the surface. Reach for a cement intended for clear parts, or apply cyanoacrylate only in a small amount and away from the optics.

No. It is the gunsight alone. The Hs 129 kit in 1:48 has to be obtained separately.
