Injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale by Hobby Boss represents the RF-80A reconnaissance version of the Lockheed Shooting Star jet aircraft. The package includes gray plastic, clear cockpit parts and a decal sheet. The model is intended to be assembled and painted.
The Lockheed P-80, later redesignated F-80, was the first jet fighter to enter series service with the US Air Force. The reconnaissance RF-80A version had cameras installed in the nose in place of armament, which let it perform tactical photo reconnaissance. The type saw the most use in the early Cold War period and in the Korean War.
Glue the clear cockpit parts with cement suitable for clear plastics. We recommend a primer and an airbrush; the shiny natural-metal finish is best achieved with a metallic paint over a smooth base, applied last, since it is harder to mask over and re-spray.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
