The Quinta Studio set for the Russian Navy tow tractor in 1:48 scale combines colored three-dimensional cab elements with printed resin parts. It is intended for RFM kits.

The tractor designated 3913 is among the support equipment of the Russian Navy. Machines of this kind are used to tow and move aircraft and other loads across a hard surface, so in a diorama they make a natural companion to a parked aircraft. The set is intended for RFM kits in 1:48 scale, where the machine is small and a well-worked cab shows all the more.
Its core is the colored three-dimensional elements for the cab and the driving position, which replace the smooth surfaces of the kit parts. The instrument panel, the control panels and the upholstery have printed relief, come ready in color and are carried on a decal backing paper. The set is further supplemented with printed resin parts, so besides the flat detail there are components with a shape of their own that printing cannot replace.
The printed resin parts carry the remains of print supports. Cut them off a little away from the part, sand the rest away carefully and wash and degrease the surface before painting. These parts are not polystyrene, so glue them with super glue, not with ordinary plastic cement. Apply the colored elements to a clean, level surface coated with gloss varnish. They have no adhesive layer of their own: cut the part out, dip it in lukewarm water for about 15 seconds and slide it off the backing paper into place; on an uneven surface a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin.
The set suits a modeler who is building a scene with support equipment and does not want an empty glazed cab. Even a less experienced builder will manage it, because it calls for no folding of photo-etch. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
