This is a masking set from the Ukrainian brand Reskit, not a model of the aircraft. The masks are machine-cut to the shape of the individual frames and areas, and all you do is lift them out of the sheet, stick them onto the model and spray the area. The result is a straight sharp edge of the kind hand-cut tape achieves only with difficulty, especially on curves. The set is cut for a particular kit in 1:48 scale, so check before buying that it matches the kit you have.
The Su-27, in reporting-name terms the Flanker B, is a single-seat twin-engine fighter of Soviet design, originally intended for the fight for air superiority at long range. Characteristic of it is the blended aerodynamic layout, in which the fuselage passes smoothly into the wing with pronounced root extensions, a pair of engines in separate nacelles and two vertical tail surfaces. The cockpit is covered by a one-piece hinged canopy with a fairly simple but long frame, so masking calls for precise work along its whole length.
Degrease the surface before applying the masks and let the base color cure completely. Lift the masks out with tweezers and press them down with a wooden stick, especially in the corners. First spray the interior color and only then the color of the airframe, so that the frames look right when seen from inside as well. Spray in thin layers; a heavy layer of paint tends to run under the edge of a mask. Remove the masks shortly after the paint has dried, pulling at an angle to the surface.
