Injection-molded plastic kit of the Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9 in 1:48 scale from Airfix: the two-seat trainer version of the legendary British fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat trainer version Spitfire Tr.9 (T Mk.IX) in 1:48 scale from a modern Airfix tooling. The model captures the characteristic tandem canopy with two pilot positions. Check the actual package contents and the range of color schemes against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Spitfire was designed as a single-seat fighter and became one of the best known combat aircraft in history. The two-seat Tr.9 conversion was based on the airframe of the Mk.IX version and carried a tandem cockpit with dual controls: the pilot's front seat was moved forward and a raised instructor's position was added behind it. These machines served as trainers and conversion aircraft in the postwar period, and some still fly at air shows today. The aircraft was powered by the liquid-cooled Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue clean joints with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Glue the glazing of the tandem canopy carefully with cement for canopies so that the plastic does not fog; on the two-seat version, pay attention to the internal partitioning of both positions, which is visible with the canopies open. Paint the interior and pick out its detail before closing up the fuselage. Apply gloss varnish before the decals, then bring out the panel lines with a wash and add fine wear with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
