Eight turned metal barrels for the British 120 mm QF Mark IX and XII naval gun in 1:700 scale from MASTER. For models of British destroyers.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of eight turned metal gun barrels for ship models in 1:700 scale. It is not a model of a vessel but an accessory to one. The manufacturer intends the set for British destroyers of classes A through N, O, Q through W and Tribal, that is for vessels armed with guns of 4.7 inch caliber, which corresponds to roughly 120 millimeters.
The 4.7 inch gun in the Mark IX and Mark XII versions was the standard gun armament of British destroyers of interwar and wartime construction. It was mounted in single and twin turrets and it defines the period silhouette of a destroyer. The eight parts in the package match the usual number of barrels on one vessel of this category.
In 1:700 scale plastic barrels are tapered, thick and soft; once they are off the frame they usually carry mold marks that are in practice impossible to sand. The plastic barrel is cut off at the face of the turret and replaced with the new part, for which a hole is drilled directly in the turret face. Work with tweezers and over a tray with a raised rim, because a part lost in this scale will not be found. On twin turrets, check that the two barrels are parallel and extend equally; unevenness shows from a distance more than any other detail. Glue with a tiny drop of cyanoacrylate or slow epoxy. A steel barrel can simply be darkened, but on ship models the barrels are usually painted in the same shade as the turret, and then a primer for metal is necessary.
This is an accessory for modelers. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
