A detail set of single-barrel 20 mm Oerlikon Mk.II guns of the Royal Navy in 1:700 scale from Flyhawk. Fine plastic parts for fitting out ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of a ship but a detail accessory. The set holds a series of exceptionally fine injection-molded plastic parts representing the British single-barrel 20 mm Oerlikon anti-aircraft guns, the Mk.II version, in 1:700 scale. It is injection-molded plastic, not resin. The guns replace the coarser parts from the box and one package covers the anti-aircraft armament of a whole ship.
In the Second World War the Oerlikons were among the most widespread light anti-aircraft armament on Royal Navy ships. Out of the box these small weapons tend to be simplified; a separate detail set brings thin barrels, a legible mount and a shield, and lifts the realism of the deck noticeably. Thanks to the larger number of pieces it will serve even on more extensive superstructures.
Work with a sharp knife and tweezers, as the parts are very small. Fit them with cyanoacrylate or with thin cement for plastic. Paint over a primer, best with an airbrush; then pick the barrels and the shields out with a light wash. We would suggest working over a mat so that the small parts are not lost.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
