1:72 AH-64

The machine

You know the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter at first glance by the angular forward fuselage with two seats in tandem, by the cannon slung beneath it and by the stub wings with their pylons. It is a machine full of technical particulars: sensors, covers over units, grilles and antennas take up almost the whole surface. In 1:72 scale it is exactly these small things that come up against the limit of what an injection mold can manage.

What the set is for

The set adds parts of finer rendering to an Apache model in 1:72 scale than an ordinary kit offers. The modeler uses them to replace the corresponding parts of the model or to add them where the kit does not deal with the detail. What exactly the package holds and where each part belongs is shown in the manufacturer instructions; it is a good idea to go through them before cutting anything off the model.

Recommended procedure

• Try the parts dry first and note how much material has to come off the model.
• Use super glue, as the parts are not polystyrene.
• Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest flush.
• Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and go over them with a thin base coat.

Who it is worth it for

It is a choice for modelers who build the Apache with competition or a close-viewed display case in mind and have the patience for work with tweezers. Anyone who builds quickly and for pleasure will do with the contents of the box. The kit, paints and glue are not included in this package, unless stated otherwise.
