A three-dimensional color print for the cockpit of the Swedish Saab AJ-37 Viggen attack aircraft in 1:72 scale. It brings finished front and side panels and the seat harness. Dimensionally it follows the Special Hobby kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Saab 37 Viggen was born to defend a country that reckoned its airfields would not survive. The layout with a small foreplane and a thrust reverser gave it the ability to land on a stretch of road and take off again after a short run. The letters AJ denote a machine primarily for attack, armed against ground and surface targets. It entered service at the start of the 1970s and was among the first production aircraft with an on-board computer that projected data in front of the pilot's eyes.
Whereas older cockpits are made up of nothing but round dials, here rectangular areas with backlit fields appear, and the frame of a head-up display above the panel. These shapes have different colors from their surroundings, usually cooler ones, and it is exactly their distinctness that makes a cockpit look modern on a model. The printing renders them with a clear edge and with no bleeding at the margins.
Because the glazing above the pilot is large, the layout of the panels stays visible even after assembly. The light harness draws the eye toward the center, the dark face of the panel holds the contrast and the areas do not settle into a single gray.
The cut matches the Viggen kit from Special Hobby, and the model itself is not included. The external surface of the airframe, the thrust reverser and the external stores are not covered by the set; everything in it is aimed at the space under the canopy.
