Firma49 1:72 British Mk III Turtle helmet is a set of miniature resin castings of the British helmet of the Second World War for figures and dioramas. It is a detail, not a standalone model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set from the Czech manufacturer Firma49 in the small scale of 1:72. It contains miniature castings of the British Mk III steel helmet, nicknamed the Turtle. It is not a kit but an accessory in its own right for dressing small figures and scenes. Working with parts this small is meant for more experienced modelers.
The British Army introduced the Mk III helmet from the end of 1943. Its deeper shape, extended to the rear, improved protection of the neck and the back of the head over the earlier Mk II. It was first worn in larger numbers by British and Canadian soldiers during the Normandy landings in 1944 and was used until the end of the war. It gained the nickname Turtle for its resemblance to a turtle shell.
Carefully separate the miniature castings from the casting blocks and wash them free of mold release agent (with respiratory protection). Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). After the primer, paint them in flat khaki to olive green; a very fine wash will bring out the shape.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings. Glue, paints and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
