An injection-molded plastic kit of the American long-range flying boat Consolidated PBY-3 Catalina in 1:72 scale from the Polish brand Hobby 2000. It is a reboxing - in the box you will find proven injection-molded plastic originating from Academy, which Hobby 2000 complements with its own choice of decals. The model captures the characteristic parasol wing with its struts and the long hull of the flying boat.
The Consolidated PBY Catalina was among the most successful and most widespread flying boats in history. It served for long-range maritime patrols, for search and rescue and for bombing attacks. The PBY-3 version comes from the second half of the 1930s and represents an early production series with more powerful radial engines than the first machines. The high-set wing carried two engines, and the machine was marked by exceptional range, which made it the eyes of the navy over the vast oceans.
Separate the parts with a cutter and glue them with modeling cement for plastic. With the large hull and wing, watch the careful fit of the halves and fill the seams. Apply a primer before painting; large areas are best sprayed with an airbrush. Mask the glazed parts before spraying. Pre-shading will help bring out the structure of a machine this size.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
