An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Culver PQ-14 target trainer in its naval TD2C-1 form in 1:72 scale from the company Kovozavody Prostejov.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Culver PQ-14 was created during the Second World War as a target aircraft for training anti-aircraft gunners. It was derived from the small civilian Culver Cadet and kept its shape: a single-seat low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear. The machine could be flown by radio without a crew, but flights between bases were usually handled by a pilot on board. The US Navy operated the same type under the designation TD2C-1.
It is a classic injection-molded plastic kit supplemented with a decal sheet and building instructions. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is assembled with ordinary cement for polystyrene.
On small aircraft it pays to spend time on the seams of the fuselage and the wing leading edge, because on a smooth surface every irregularity shows. Target machines wore conspicuous warning finishes, which stand out well over a carefully smoothed and varnished base. You will manage a sharp transition between colors better with masking tape cut into narrower strips.
The kit will please collectors of less usual types and everyone who likes small aircraft of the Second World War period. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
Kovozávody Prostějov KPM0544 Culver PQ-14 / TD2C Cadet in 1/72 scale is a small and simple model kit with a very interesting subject. It represents an American radio-controlled target aircraft from World War II and the post-war period. The kit includes one plastic sprue, engraved panel lines, a clear canopy and several marking options. The red U.S. Navy / NADS version is especially interesting. A small model, but a big story for the collection.
