An injection-molded plastic model of the German two-seat glider DFS Kranich II in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Kovozavody Prostejov (KP). The box contains plastic parts (including clear ones) and a film for the etched or thin elements, together with decals. It is a release of a proven mold with decal options. The exact number of parts and schemes is not stated here.
The DFS Kranich (crane) was a German two-seat high-performance glider of the 1930s, widely used for training and for sport soaring in the following decade as well. The Kranich II version spread to a number of countries and became one of the classic prewar and wartime gliders. The design, with a slender wing and two seats in tandem, allowed a pilot to train together with an instructor. The glider has no engine of its own and is launched by winch or by aerotow.
The model is small and delicate, so careful work on the joints pays off. Glue the plastic parts with thin plastic cement and attach the thin film parts carefully with super glue. Try the slender wing and the glazed canopy dry beforehand. Fit the glazing only once the frames have been painted and protect it with masking tape. Apply a primer before painting and spray the surfaces with an airbrush in thin coats; the wood-and-fabric surfaces of the real subject come out best in subtle shades.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
