Du doch nicht!! is a limited edition from Eduard in 1:72 scale. It is not one model but a set of three complete injection-molded plastic kits of First World War fighters, the Albatros D.V, the Fokker Dr.I (a triplane) and the Fokker D.VII. The package is devoted to the machines of the German fighter ace Ernst Udet and, according to the manufacturer's data, offers markings for eight aircraft. Pre-colored photo-etched parts, painting masks and, as a collector's bonus, a replica of the Pour le Mérite decoration are included as well.
Ernst Udet was the most successful surviving German fighter ace of the First World War. During the war he flew several types of fighters in turn, among them the Albatros D.V, the Fokker Dr.I triplane and the later Fokker D.VII. He had the inscription Du doch nicht!!, loosely meaning You certainly will not!, painted on his aircraft as a mocking message to his opponents. These wood-and-fabric biplanes and the triplane represent the typical fighters of the closing part of the war.
Use a liquid model cement for plastic on the plastic parts and treat the surface with a base coat (primer) before painting. On period aircraft pay attention to the woodwork, the fabric covering and the bracing wires between the wings, as a fine thread or stretched line tensioned between the lifting surfaces markedly raises the fidelity. The pre-colored etched parts make the cockpit detail easier and the masks supplied help with clean spraying.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
