Sukhoi Su-15 Flagon-A – Basic kabuki masks 1:48 (New Ware)

This is NOT a model but a set of self-adhesive masks from New Ware for a plastic kit of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-15 Flagon-A fighter in 1:48 scale. The masks are cut from Japanese washi masking paper (kabuki) and give a crisp boundary of color. The Basic version is the entry-level set: masks for the external frames of the cockpit glazing, the other clear parts and the wheel hubs.

The real subject

The Su-15 was a Soviet twin-engine supersonic air-defense interceptor. Flagon-A denotes the early production form with a purely triangular (delta) wing, from which later modifications with a cranked leading edge and a more powerful radar grew. For decades the aircraft formed the backbone of Soviet air defense and was deployed on interception missions over a vast area.
