This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-11 fighter in 1:72 scale from IBG models. The modern mold offers a finely engraved surface, a well-worked-out cockpit and, in the box, photo-etched parts and several marking schemes. The Sorau Factory Series edition refers to the production batch tied to the factory at Sorau (today Zary in Poland), where the late versions of the Fw 190D were built.
The Fw 190D, nicknamed the Dora, was the last line of development of the legendary Fw 190 fighter and is usually counted among the best piston fighters of the Second World War. Unlike the radial engine of the earlier Antons, it received a liquid-cooled inverted V12, which gave the aircraft a longer nose and better performance at high altitude. The D-11 version was a late production change with a more powerful engine and revised armament; it was built only in small numbers in the very last stage of the war.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched elements with super glue. In 1:72 scale the parts are small - work carefully and fit out the cockpit and the landing gear bays before closing the fuselage. Mask the glazing before painting. Go over the surface with gloss clear coat before the decals, and a matte varnish will unify the surface at the end. Late-war German schemes with mottled camouflage come out well with an airbrush and subtle shading.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
