A set of masking stencils for a model of the HH-2D Seasprite helicopter in 1:72 scale, prepared for the Clear Prop Models kit. The stencils are applied before spraying and hold sharp edges.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains pre-cut masking stencils for a model of the HH-2D Seasprite helicopter in 1:72 scale, shaped to the parts of the Clear Prop Models kit. The stencils cover the surfaces that are to stay free of paint after spraying, above all the cockpit glazing. Masking by hand with tape is slow on curved canopies and the frames rarely come out the same width; a pre-cut shape removes that work.
The stencils are applied before spraying, onto a clean, degreased and dry surface. Lift the individual parts with the tip of a scalpel, transfer them with tweezers and press them down with a blunt point all the way round, so that paint does not creep under the edge. Then apply the paint in thin coats, working from the edge of the mask inward, not against the edge. Take the film off as soon as the finish is dry to the touch, not several days later, when the edge of the paint hardens and can tear. Pull it back diagonally over itself, not straight up.
Let the glazing dry completely before masking; even moisture left after washing stays in the corners of the frames. If the model gets several coats, check after each one that the edge of the stencil still lies flat. Remove any adhesive residue after taking the mask off with a dry cotton swab, not with thinner.
The set suits anyone building the Seasprite from Clear Prop Models who wants clean glazing frames. The package contains masking stencils; the kit, paints, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
