A masking set for the cockpit glazing frames of the Mil Mi-8/17 helicopter in 1:72 scale. The masks are pre-cut to the shape of the frames.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mil Mi-8 and its newer form the Mi-17 are among the most widespread twin-engine multipurpose helicopters in the world. They carry people and cargo, fly rescue missions and serve in military roles, and you find them on every continent. The forward part of the cabin is heavily glazed, including the windows under the pilots' feet, so there really are a lot of frames on the model, and cutting them one by one out of tape takes a whole evening.
Pre-cut masks for covering the cockpit glazing in 1:72 scale. You only release them from the sheet, lay them on the clear part and press them down. Compare the outlines on your own model before spraying and make up any overhang with a strip of tape.
The masks are stuck on before spraying, onto dry and degreased glazing. Apply the paint in thin coats; a heavy coat builds a ridge at the edge of the mask that stays visible even after it is removed. It is usually a good idea to spray the frames in the interior shade first and only then in the outer finish, so that the frame does not look unfinished from the inside.
The set suits anybody who wants straight and sharp frames on such heavily divided glazing without lengthy cutting. The package contains the masks only; the kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
