A starter set with a plastic kit of the North American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:72 scale. Besides the parts of the model it also holds paints, so building can start as soon as it is unpacked.

The North American P-51D Mustang was among the most widespread American fighters of the end of the Second World War and became famous above all as the escort fighter of bomber formations, able to fly with them all the way to the target and back. The D version received a teardrop canopy with a cut-down fuselage spine, which gave the pilot a view in every direction. Power came from a Merlin V12, built under license by Packard.
It is a starter set: besides the parts of the kit, the package also holds a set of paints, so building can start without any further shopping. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, the parts are on sprues and a decal sheet is included. The 1:72 scale is the most widespread one for aircraft, so a finished Mustang will fit into a collection among the other machines of the period and take up little room in a display cabinet.
Cut the parts off the sprue with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remaining stub down. Finish and paint the cockpit before you glue the fuselage halves together, because afterwards you will not get to it. A natural metal finish, typical of a large share of Mustangs, is harder to do than matte camouflage: it calls for a perfectly smooth ground, or every scratch will show. Apply the decals onto gloss varnish and, once dry, cover them with matte or semi-gloss varnish.
The set suits a beginner who wants what is needed together in one package, and a collector of Second World War aircraft in 1:72 scale as well. The package holds the kit and paints; thinner and other tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
