The set replaces the wheels from the kit of the Northrop T-38C Talon II model in 1:72 scale. The tire is made with a flattening, that is with a compressed contact patch of the kind a rubber wheel has under the weight of an aircraft standing on the ground. This detail takes more of the toy look off a finished model than many a more complicated rework: a round wheel with no flattening makes the aircraft look as if it were hovering above the surface.
The flattened face has to point toward the ground. Fit the wheel thoughtfully, therefore, and before the glue sets stand the model on a flat board and check the alignment. The tread pattern should run vertically in the direction of travel rather than turned to the side. Go through the alignment of each wheel separately; one turned the wrong way is immediately visible on a finished model.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary plastic cement has no effect; they are bonded with super glue. Cut any excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder so as not to touch the outline of the tire. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. The particular preparation procedure is stated in the manufacturer's instructions. Do not spray the tires jet black; a matte dark gray looks more convincing in scale, and set the hubs apart with a light metal shade.
The accessory will be appreciated by a modeler bothered by a perfectly round wheel on an aircraft standing on its landing gear. The package contains replacement wheels; the kit, paints, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
