Operation Compass was a British offensive in the Western Desert at the turn of 1940 and 1941, after which the fighting in North Africa got fully under way. Kufra is a remote oasis in southeastern Libya that was fought over in early 1941 and that was one of the strongpoints in the desert far from the coastal road. The aircraft used in these operations were marked by sand, sun and improvised maintenance on field strips, so their markings make a rewarding subject for modelers.
This is a decal sheet in 1:72 scale for aircraft models. Which particular machines, national insignia and codes the sheet offers, and how many marking options can be built from one sheet, is given in the manufacturer's instructions. The sheet is an accessory to a finished kit and joins it only at the end of the build.
First give the area under the decal a gloss coat; on a matte surface silvery patches form under the film. Cut the decal out close to the design and let it soak in lukewarm water until it starts to move on the backing. Slide it onto the moistened spot, squeeze the water out from under it with a soft cloth and let it dry without touching it. A decal softener will help the decal settle into engraved lines and over rivets. If the manufacturer's instructions give a different procedure, follow them.
The sheet will be appreciated by a modeler building equipment of the North African campaign who wants to avoid the markings from the box. The sheet is an accessory to a kit, so count on a kit separately. Paints, varnish and decal softener are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
