A set of replacement engine air intakes for a model of the OV-1 Mohawk aircraft in the A, B, C and D versions in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman OV-1 Mohawk was a twin-engined observation and reconnaissance aircraft of the US Army with turboprop engines, a triple vertical tail and a heavily glazed nose that gave the crew an exceptional view forwards and downwards. The individual A, B, C and D versions differed mainly in their reconnaissance equipment, but the basic shape of the airframe stayed common.
Replacement engine air intakes in 1:72 scale for the OV-1A, B, C and D versions. On the Mohawk the intakes are conspicuously placed on the sides of the engine nacelles and are among the elements a viewer at a display case looks at first. The replacement parts are fitted in place of the parts from the kit.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on them; use super glue, or two-part resin on larger faces. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder flat. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and degrease them, otherwise the paint will adhere poorly. Try the fit dry first and widen the opening in the nacelle carefully if needed. Paint the inside of the intake before fitting it, while it is still easily accessible.
The set suits modelers who want to raise the level of detail in an exposed place and who are not afraid of a little sanding and dry-fitting.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
