A resin detail accessory from the Czech manufacturer CMK for a model of the American PT-109 torpedo boat in 1:72 scale. It is not a model of the boat but a finely cast life raft that replaces the simplified plastic part of the base kit and markedly raises the level of deck detail.
PT-109 was an 80-foot Elco type patrol torpedo boat commanded during the fighting in the Solomon Islands in the Second World War by the future president John F. Kennedy. A life raft was part of the standard deck equipment of these fast boats.
Wash the mold release agent off the part, separate the casting block and glue it on with cyanoacrylate glue. The raft looks realistic with a restrained accenting of the ropes and of the canvas shades by dry brushing.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
