A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the largest lifeboat of the British RNLI rescue service - the Severn class - in 1:72 scale from Airfix. The kit is richly broken down and offers a detailed deck, hull and superstructure. The removable cabin roof reveals a well worked-out interior. A small deck boat with a crane for launching it is included, along with a decal sheet for several operational boats.
The Severn class lifeboat has been the largest vessel of the British RNLI rescue service since the mid-1990s. It reaches around 25 knots and has a range of over 200 nautical miles, so it can respond quickly even in bad weather and on the open sea. It is a modern motor vessel, not a sailing boat.
The hull can be built complete or as a waterline version. Leave the detailed superstructures and railings until the main surfaces are painted. Apply the characteristic orange and dark blue RNLI scheme with an airbrush and mask the sharp color transitions. Paint and fit out the interior under the removable roof before you close it up; finish the deck with a semi-gloss varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
