A model of the Swedish Saab J35F Draken supersonic fighter in 1:72 scale, with its characteristic double delta wing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Saab 35 Draken is a Swedish supersonic fighter that got into the air in the mid-1950s and then served with the squadrons for decades. You recognize it at once by the double delta wing: the inner part is far more swept than the outer one. It was powered by a single jet engine with an afterburner.
The Draken was designed to defend Swedish airspace, and operation from stretches of road was part of the plan. Besides Sweden it also served in Denmark, Finland and Austria.
The J35F is one of the late production versions. The weight of its armament shifted to guided missiles, and the equipment of the aircraft matches that. In Swedish colors the Draken wore both natural metal and a later camouflage scheme.
Dry-fit the parts before the build, cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down. Wash and degrease the model before painting and apply a base coat. The recommended glue and the order of assembly are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
With a delta it pays to watch the plane of the wing and the exact seating of the canopy; the large smooth fuselage surfaces do not forgive imperfect filler, so sand the joints twice rather than once. The 1:72 scale keeps the model a sensible size and the finished piece sits well in a display case among other fighters.
Paints, glue and a display base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
